Home Credit Group completes two acquisitions in Ukraine

Home Credit Group, the international consumer finance specialist, announces that it has completed the acquisition of two of Ukraine’s rapidly growing financial services companies – Bank AGROBANK and PrivatKredit – by obtaining all necessary approvals from the Ukrainian Antimonopoly Office, as well as the National Bank of Ukraine.

Both companies will be ultimately owned by Home Credit B.V., the holding company for Home Credit Group. Bank AGROBANK provides commercial and retail banking services through 22 branches throughout Ukraine, and had total assets and shareholders’ equity of UAH 645 million (USD 135 million) and UAH 65 million (USD 13.6 million), respectively, as of 30 June 2006. PrivatKredit, one of the Ukraine’s leading non-banking financial institutions, provides consumer finance services through its extensive network of over 1,000 points of sale outlets within Ukraine.

In the Ukrainian market, Home Credit will provide a range of affordable and uncomplicated financial services products to consumers across the country. Home Credit Group, currently operating in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, the Russian Federation and Kazakhstan, is a member of the international financial group PPF. The core business of the individual Home Credit Group companies is the provision of consumer finance products involving consumer and revolving credits.

„The double acquisition of Bank AGROBANK and PrivatKredit is in line with Home Credit Group’s international expansion strategy. The strategic rationale for Home Credit entering the Ukrainian market stems from its high growth potential and the prospect of utilising the synergies that materialise from our presence in Central and Eastern Europe. In the near future, we aim to become one of the country’s leading players in the consumer finance market,” comments Alexander Labak, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Partner of Home Credit Group.

Home Credit Group’s objectives for the Ukrainian market

Home Credit Group views the Ukrainian market as one with strong business prospects. As has been the case with other markets where the group operates, Home Credit will primarily focus on providing consumer finance services in the form of consumer loans and revolving credit, notably credit cards.

The acquisition of a consumer finance provider and a commercial bank creates significant synergies between two robust financial businesses. This enables the creation of an extensive portfolio of financial products and services, together with an extensive distribution network, and the company plans to build a large portfolio of satisfied customers working with Home Credit on long-term basis.
