PPF Media launches regional media service

PPF Media, a member of the PPF Group, today announces that it is to launch a regional media network.  From June 2009 it will start to issue regional weeklies and will also launch a series of supporting news service websites across selected districts in the Czech Republic. The regional media network forms part of PPF’s media expansion plans which also includes the opening of the International Multimedia Training Centre in Prague.

Under the title Naše adresa (Our Address), the first stage of the project will be the publication of several weekly titles which will start to be published in North Bohemia and Central Moravia.  The weekly newspapers will subsequently be complemented with a network of websites focused on the country’s various regions and municipalities. The key partners to PPF’s media project are the World Association of Newspapers (WAN), Google, and Atex, the world’s biggest publishing system provider.

Ladislav Bartoníček, a PPF Group shareholder, said: “PPF has many years experience in the media business. As an investor, PPF has consistently proved its ability to support and develop assets as well as build them up from an elementary level.  ”

Roman Gallo, PPF’s director for media strategies, said: “We believe that the future of the industry lies in linking together online and print media.  We want to demonstrate that it is possible and feasible to gain real traction in the Czech market.  The winning combination of our team’s experience and PPF’s support provides an excellent strategic base for the successful implementation of the project.  These foundations are strengthened by the involvement of the International Training Centre in Prague and its highly reputable global partners.”
